After You Have Suffered: God Will Strengthen

When someone is suffering, one of their greatest needs is support. An advocate; a listening ear; an encouraging word—these and other means of support are tremendous helps when someone is going through a trial. Helpful as others may be, however, our friends and loved ones have their own weaknesses and need support, too. But there is One who is the perfect supporter—God our Father. First Peter 5:10 says, “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”

When we are weak, we need strength, and no one can strengthen us like our Creator. Pain might tempt us to give up, but God’s strength can make us steadfast. Suffering might bring out our weakness, but God’s strength can make us firm and strong. When trials come, draw close to God and rely on the strength only He can provide.
