Action movies often depict a man or woman who is so skilled at combat that they are considered a weapon. And I suppose that’s not too far-fetched. Elite soldiers are often trained to such extremes that they not only handle weapons with expertise, but their very bodies become dangerous weapons. And, of course, governments certainly use the bodies of men and women as weapons in their various wars. But what about you? Are you a weapon? I don’t mean in some Rambo, action movie way. I mean spiritually.
Romans 6:13 says, “And do not offer any parts of [your body] to sin as weapons for unrighteousness. But as those who are alive from the dead, offer yourselves to God, and all the parts of yourselves to God as weapons for righteousness.”[1] Christians are to be God’s soldiers. Are we soldiers of Christ who are useful in overcoming the enemy? Are we trained and prepared for godliness? Are we weapons of righteousness in God’s army?
